A Taylor County parent told the school board on April 21 that his son intervened during an alleged prolonged bullying incident at Taylor County High and that school administrators have not accurately described what happened.
"This child is being assaulted at this point," Jeremy Walker said during the public-comment portion, describing a larger student physically handling a smaller student and saying his son stepped in to stop the conduct. Walker said the board’s written incident paperwork misstates the facts — including whether the smaller student’s clothing was removed — and accused administrators of inconsistency and of protecting one another in their accounts.
Walker laid out what he described as a sequence of events: a coach not intervening, a developing incident of bullying and his son’s attempt to intervene. He said administrators later characterized the intervention in paperwork as his son pulling down the other student’s pants, which Walker disputed. "That's not what happened," he said.
Board members listened but did not take action during public comment; Walker said he planned to return at subsequent meetings to provide additional detail and asked for accountability and clarity in how disciplinary incidents and reports are handled.
The board’s public-comment rules (no naming personnel or students and a three-minute limit) were reiterated at the start of the segment. The district did not respond with an on-the-record factual update at the meeting; no disciplinary vote or formal board directive was taken during the session.
