She told trustees that local residents support the business and urged the village to create a clear, consistent path for small businesses seeking approval.
Several residents spoke in support. Susan Salor said approving the Scout Lake Park location would be a "win‑win" and noted Milwaukee County Parks has already approved the lease. Other speakers described Salty Dog as an important community gathering spot and urged the board to act quickly so the business can continue serving customers safely.
Staff said the application requires village board approval and that public‑safety and permitting details would be reviewed. Trustees did not take final action on location or permit at the May 5 meeting; the owner requested the item be placed on the next village board agenda.
