The Highlands County School Board approved routine business items including the revised agenda, the consent agenda and the superintendent’s personnel recommendations.
A motion by Miss Howerton (second Mr. Dawson) adopted the agenda with items 3F (2026 summer school programs) and 4E (5‑year work plan) pulled for later consideration. The consent agenda and personnel recommendations were approved on subsequent motions and roll-call votes.
John Berdy, safety and security, presented the Office of Safe Schools quarterly compliance report. Berdy said the quarter included two inspections and one re-inspection; all three sites were found 100% in compliance with no recorded deficiencies by the state inspector. The report received no motion for separate action.
The board also approved expulsions and academy placements following a motion by Ms. Howerton and second by Mr. Martin. Board members closed the meeting with committee and community updates including upcoming budget workshops and local school events.
