Motorcyclist killed in Riverhead crash, police say

Riverhead police said a 22‑year‑old man died after a motorcycle collision with a pickup truck on Tuesday morning.
According to the police report relayed on LTV, the crash occurred around 8:00 a.m. at the curved intersection of Cross River Drive and Union Avenue. The motorcyclist, identified in the report as Ismael Santiago Basantes Ramen, was taken by ambulance to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
The pickup‑truck driver, whose name was not released, was treated for minor injuries. Police told LTV the crash did not appear to have criminal intent and asked witnesses to contact the Riverhead Police Department at 631‑727‑4500 with any information.
The investigation is ongoing; no charges were announced in the broadcast.
