Hill said the project has roughly $80,000 in funding drawn from park improvement allocations and that limited wall space at the park makes a sculpture or one larger piece more likely than multiple mural panels. The process begins with community input (survey open through late May) and a task-force recruitment period (applications close May 3). The task force will help shape the request for qualifications for artists, conduct outreach, and recommend finalists; a call to artists would run through summer and selection into the fall, with design and fabrication continuing into late 2027.
Staff asked board members to share the survey with neighbors and community groups and to suggest local organizations that should receive outreach. A board member asked about funding and Hill confirmed the roughly $80,000 budget and that the project is likely to prioritize a sculptural installation.
