Board approves certificated appointments; superintendent proposes interim athletic director

Northern Burlington County Regional School District board members voted to approve two certificated appointments during a July work session and heard the superintendent's recommendation to hire an interim athletic director to cover a five-week gap between administrators.
Superintendent Dr. Zuckerman told the board he recommended appointing Daniel Depoto to fill a high-school assistant-principal opening and Greg Corigliano as the district's next athletic director. "Mister Depoto is coming with a very strong knowledge in the area of special education, behavior management, general teaching, and learning," Zuckerman said, adding that "Mister Greg Corigliano is coming to Northern Burlington with experience in the position of athletic director...and a number of innovative ideas to further develop the connection between our district and the community." The superintendent said both candidates would be strong additions to the high-school administrative team.
Zuckerman said there will be a five-week vacancy between the prior athletic director's last day and Corigliano's start date and recommended hiring an interim athletic director to manage the start of fall sports, middle-school tryouts and the anticipated opening of the turf field. "We would use the budgeted salary for the athletic director to fund the interim position," he said, and said the interim recommendation will appear as a nonconsent item on the Aug. 11 agenda.
The board moved and seconded motions to approve the certificated appointments (agenda items 9.19 and 9.2). Roll-call voting was held; the board chair announced the motions passed. The meeting minutes record affirmative roll-call responses from members present during both motions.
The superintendent also noted policy and staffing items tied to the personnel changes, including planned communication to the community and committee review prior to final implementation. No amendments to the appointments were proposed during the work session.
The board will consider the interim athletic director recommendation at its Aug. 11 meeting; the approved certificated appointments will be processed per district policy.
