Resident warns council about dangerous motorbike riding near private drainage ditch

Shannon, who spoke during public comment, told the Bridal Town Council she is "concerned about kids and motorbikes" riding through a drainage channel in front of her house and said riders were reaching enough speed to climb a berm and enter her driveway.

"They\'re firing up those bikes and they\'re pretty good sized bikes," Shannon said, adding that she has spent several thousand dollars repairing work on the channel and is worried someone will be hurt. She said the riders sometimes cannot turn around in the narrow channel and are forced to use her bridge and driveway to exit.

Council members discussed practical steps. The Chair suggested documenting identifying details and said, "If you see them again, maybe just pay attention to what color the bikes are, and I\'ll call the sheriff's department myself and have them at least go talk to them." Greg and other councilmembers said they would be alert when walking in the neighborhood and would report recurring problems to law enforcement.

Shannon asked whether she could post "keep out" signs on the portion of the channel that abuts her property. The Chair said he would research town sign options and told her she could put up private signs in the meantime if they do not violate property lines.

The council did not take formal action at the meeting. Next steps agreed on the record were for Shannon and others to try to note distinguishing details about riders for enforcement and for the Chair to look into signage options and the possibility of sheriff involvement if the problem continues.
