(SRI) to prepare the specialist forms. Staff reported the National Park Service had received the materials and expected to return them to OES this week; SHPO sign‑off remains the final step before OES can issue a release to resume construction.
Project staff said that, once released, the remaining phase one construction work would likely take about five to six months. Council members described an active outreach effort to federal and state offices, including meetings by Mayor and Mayor Pro Tem in Washington, D.C., and follow‑up with the Governor’s office to accelerate review. Staff emphasized there is no additional council action required at this point — the city is awaiting agency concurrence.
What happens next: staff will continue coordination with OES, National Park Service and SHPO and said they will return to council with status updates; staff also noted procurement for phase two cannot proceed until the green light is issued.
