During open session after the executive session, a commissioner moved that the board authorize the chair to sign the settlement agreement dated February 2026 between the board and complainants David W. Box and Earl Watt and to record the action in the minutes for transmittal to BOTA the next morning. The motion was seconded and approved by a 5‑0 vote.
Commissioners instructed staff and counsel to coordinate the language of follow‑up letters to taxpayers (173–178 people who filed) so the communications come from the county treasurer’s office rather than outside counsel. Treasurer Mary Rose and county counsel agreed to work together on the wording and mailing logistics.
Next steps: county counsel and the treasurer will finalize letter wording and ensure the signed settlement agreement and required filings are submitted to BOTA the following morning.
