"That allows our road and bridge mechanics to plug into the machines, figure out what the code is, instead of having a cat come down and plug into our machine, which is costing us about 1000 dollars every time they come down," staff said.
Commissioners discussed sharing the device and subscription costs with the landfill and asked administration to add the contract to the agenda for formal approval and legal review. One commissioner recommended placing the item on the agenda because it would be a contract requiring signature, and staff said they would provide the agreement and suggested a joint purchase to split costs.
The commission did not adopt the contract during the session; it directed staff to add the item to a future agenda with the purchase and training details for formal consideration.
