Ellsworth County department heads report landfill pit draining, IT and facilities updates

Department head Teresa Shute reported that the landfill pit has been staying dry. Meeting participants cited Mitch Kempke as saying the pond had been seeping into the new pit but that now the pit appears to be draining and holding. Multiple department heads said LockIT Technologies is "running smoother," with the single recurring complaint being frequent updates occurring every other day.
Sheriff Kenny Bernard said that, with all jail HVAC units now installed, he is exploring installing protective cages over the units to guard against hail damage. Sue Arensman asked whether the old Ready Mix offices (where Road & Bridge is storing equipment) would be suitable for the Extension Office; Commissioner Shawn Thomas said he thought it was a good idea and planned to inspect the old Ready Mix offices after the meeting. Nathan Florian, EMS Director, reported that previously noted plumbing issues had been fixed and recommended the old pipe be cleaned about once a year to prevent similar buildup.
