Residents press board for accountability as public commenters allege teacher misconduct and criticize union

Jessica Markham Brink described long family ties to Bandon and said online anonymity and factional attacks have fractured community trust; she said the independent investigation into the superintendents actions must continue despite the superintendents resignation. Sue Dodrill, a retired teacher, thanked resigning administrators and expressed concern about bullying and unfair treatment of faculty members who are BEA members, urging fair treatment and that the board hear both sides. Brianna Hutchins, a former board member who resigned and identified herself as a parent, said she resigned to "regain my voice," accused the Bandon Education Association of protecting "predators and bullies," and said she will homeschool her child next year.
Board members acknowledged the complaints process and said a third-party investigator has been retained and a comprehensive report is expected to come to the board before the end of the school year. The meeting record shows no adjudication of the allegations during the session; the claims reported by commenters remain allegations pending investigation.
The board accepted multiple resignations during the meeting and took several administrative actions, but commenters repeatedly called for transparency and accountability as the district moves through the transition.
