Livingston County Office for the Aging secures new PERS vendor, approves two replacement vans

The Livingston County Office for the Aging told the Human Services Committee on March 3 that it had to move quickly after receiving notice from Noyes Hospital that the Medical Guardian program would be terminated effective April 30, 2026. County staff issued a Request for Proposals and recommended a new contract to continue Personal Emergency Response System (PERS) services without a lapse.
Meeting materials show the contract term for the selected vendor runs 4/1/2026–3/31/2028 with three one‑year renewal options. Office for the Aging leadership explained the PERS services include fall alert and detection units; funding sources listed include EISEP, CSE and state unmet needs funds with local share 0–25% as budgeted. The committee approved the authorization motion.
Sue Carlock also reviewed a procurement to purchase two 2026 Chrysler Pacifica Select minivans through a cooperative contract (NYS OGS mini‑bid) to replace two end‑of‑life vehicles. The purchase price was set at not to exceed $90,000, funded by New York State unmet needs funds; the motion to approve carried.
Carlock provided program statistics for January 2026 (5,935 meals across delivered and congregate programs) and highlighted upcoming site activities, the Seniorama event scheduled for May 2, 2026, and a renewal in process with Genesee Valley Rural Preservation Council for the Wildbriar senior site (space provided at no cost; site averaging over 20 meals per day). The Office for the Aging said there is no anticipated lapse in PERS service if the new contract is executed.
The committee approved the contract authorizations and vehicle purchase; staff will proceed with contract signature after County Attorney and County Administrator review.
