The Pewaukee Plan Commission voted July 17 to approve site and building plans for an ambulatory eye surgery center on Bussey Road, with conditions requiring final engineering approval and an agreement addressing parking, landscaping and signage impacts tied to a sanitary sewer easement.
Staff reported the single-story facility is permitted in the B6 district, meets the required 40% green space and conforms to setback and parking-size standards. The proposed building footprint is about 10,600 square feet and the applicant proposed 78 parking spaces. Staff recommended approval subject to final engineering review, an agreement to address the sanitary sewer easement where parking encroaches, and staff review of signage and landscaping.
Several commissioners emphasized the patient profile for eye surgery — often older adults — and asked whether handicap and van-accessible stalls were sufficient. Carrie Harden, the civil site engineer, responded: “All 4 of those would be van, could be van accessible,” and said the team would evaluate adding stalls to improve accessibility.
The commission moved and seconded approval contingent on final engineering review and the requisite agreement for the easement/parking impacts; the motion carried. The applicant will submit final engineering, a sign permit and any additional parking adjustments for staff review before building permits are issued.
