The Shelby County Commission on Jan. 12 authorized the County Engineer and County Attorney to acquire easements and rights‑of‑way—by negotiation or, if necessary, by eminent domain—for the Alabaster Boulevard Extension Project in unincorporated parts of Shelby County. Commissioner Lindsey Allison moved approval; the motion carried unanimously under Resolution 2026-01-12-10.
The resolution states the City of Alabaster has designated funds to construct the extension and will reimburse the county for any incurred right‑of‑way acquisition expenses. It authorizes the County Engineer and County Attorney to take actions they deem necessary to procure property interests, including filing condemnation actions should negotiations fail. Exhibit “A” with parcel descriptions is adopted by reference in the resolution record.
The action directs county staff to proceed with acquisition efforts and to work with county engineers’ recommendations on necessary parcels.
