The Shelby County Commission on Jan. 12 approved a resolution changing Precinct 11’s polling location from Shoal Creek Town Hall to Double Oak Community Church at 115 Olmsted Street, Birmingham, AL 35242. Commissioner Lindsey Allison moved the measure and the commission voted unanimously to adopt Resolution 2026-01-12-08.
The resolution states Shoal Creek Town Hall is a gated private club and that the new site offers greater accessibility and convenience for voters. The change is effective beginning with the May 19, 2026 primary and for future elections for that precinct; in the event of a special election prior to May 19, the resolution allows the change to take effect immediately if emergency circumstances require it.
The resolution directs that any prior resolutions in conflict with the new polling place designation be repealed to the extent of the conflict. County officials recorded the new voting location address in the minutes and included standard certification language for the minutes.
The action was recorded as a unanimous vote of those present. Voters in Precinct 11 should observe the new location on election notices and ballots managed by election officials ahead of the May primary.
