Maggie identified the incoming company as Metronet (now doing business with T‑Mobile) and said the work would touch nearly every road in the city within roughly a year. The ordinance adds permit requirements and adjusts fees and staffing resources so the city can manage multiple crews and limit disruptions, she said.
Council members moved to waive the second reading and adopt ordinance 25-18; the motion was seconded and approved by voice vote.
The change is intended to give staff clearer enforcement authority and fee recovery for large, citywide utility installations. Staff did not provide an itemized fee schedule or public-expenditure estimate in the meeting's verbal presentation; council members asked no substantive questions beyond acknowledging the scope of the project and the need to act quickly.
