Pewaukee approves up to $26,960 toward library flat-roof replacement, contingent on village approval

The Pewaukee Common Council approved a request to contribute up to $26,960 toward the Pewaukee Public Library's flat-roof replacement, representing 20% of the project's lowest qualified bid, contingent on the village's approval and confirmation of where the city will draw funds.

A library representative (S14) said the full project price from the lowest qualified bidder is $134,800 for a roof system with a 30-year warranty and that the city's contractual share under the joint library agreement is 20% ($26,960). The project was approved by the library board and the village planned to consider its portion the following Wednesday, the representative said.

Council members agreed the roof section involved (a flat roof above the elevator shaft) had experienced leakage in a recent storm and that addressing it now would protect mechanical equipment. The council moved to approve the city's 20% share contingent on the village adopting its portion and contingent on the council identifying a funding source; the motion passed.

The funding approval is contingent on both the village's approval and council confirmation of where within the city's budget to source the contribution. The council did not specify a final account in the meeting record; staff said they would identify funding and report back.
