Walworth County Board elects Stacey chair; Reiff, Pruessing win leadership posts

The Walworth County Board of Supervisors held its organizational meeting on April 21, 2026, in Elkhorn, where eleven newly elected supervisors took the oath of office and the board selected its leadership by unanimous consent.
Deputy County Clerk Patricia Sommers opened the meeting at 6:00 p.m. and introduced the Honorable Samuel T. Berg, Circuit Court Judge, Branch 4, who administered the oral oath to the eleven supervisors and delivered the invocation. Roll call confirmed a quorum was present. County Administrator Mark W. Luberda explained the nomination process used for board offices: a motion and second to nominate, a motion and second to close nominations, and a majority of members present (six) required to elect.
Supervisor Sheila T. Reiff nominated Rick Stacey for County Board Chair, a nomination seconded by Supervisor Dennis G. Karbowski. With no other nominations, Supervisor Brian Holt moved and Supervisor Joseph H. Schaefer seconded a motion to close nominations and cast a unanimous-consent vote; Clerk Sommers declared Rick Stacey County Board Chairperson by unanimous consent. Chair Stacey asked Clerk Sommers to continue presiding, thanked the board for the support and said he will maintain an "open door policy" and work with Administrator Mark W. Luberda, supervisors and department heads to help meet goals and "keep Walworth County debt free."
Supervisor Susan M. Pruessing nominated Sheila T. Reiff for County Board Vice-Chair; the nomination was seconded by Supervisor Bud Wojcik. With no further nominations, Supervisor Kenneth H. Monroe moved and Supervisor Kathy Ingersoll seconded closure of nominations and a unanimous-consent vote; Clerk Sommers declared Reiff vice chair by unanimous consent.
Supervisor Dennis G. Karbowski nominated Susan M. Pruessing for Executive Committee Chair, seconded by Vice-Chair Reiff. Supervisor Brian Holt moved and Supervisor Kathy Ingersoll seconded closing nominations and casting a unanimous-consent vote; Clerk Sommers declared Pruessing executive committee chair by unanimous consent.
Chair Stacey announced the Nominating Committee—comprised of the County Board Chair, County Board Vice-Chair and Executive Committee Chair—will meet Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. in the County Board Room. Group and individual photos are scheduled for Thursday, April 23 at 4:45 p.m. The meeting adjourned at 6:21 p.m.
Actions recorded at the meeting included motions to approve the agenda and the unanimous-consent elections of Stacey as County Board Chair, Reiff as Vice-Chair and Pruessing as Executive Committee Chair.
