The Dodge County Board of Adjustment on Nov. 13 approved a request to waive the county’s minimum lot-width requirement so an applicant can create a lot 40 feet wide at the building setback line where the Dodge County Land Use Code requires 125 feet for parcels not served by public sewer.
Chairman William Nass opened the public hearing. County staff confirmed the hearing was noticed and described the public-comment process. Appellant Burt Bushke presented the variance request for relief from Subsection 7.3.2 of the Dodge County Land Use Code. Two speakers, Kayla Nonhoff and Emanuel Nonhoff, spoke in support of the proposal.
Board member Rodney Justman moved to approve the variance; Board member Russell Kottke seconded the motion. The board approved the request by a 3-1 vote. The minutes record the tally but do not attribute individual yes or no votes to specific board members.
The board then considered routine items under "Other Business," including that there were no petitions filed for December, a review of recently approved variances for possible ordinance changes, and a review of board responsibilities and procedures. Board member Russell Kottke moved to adjourn; Rodney Justman seconded and the meeting adjourned.
The action grants the applicant relief from the lot-width requirement in Subsection 7.3.2 of the Dodge County Land Use Code. The minutes do not list conditions on the approval in the record, and the staff was to be directed to issue any required land-use permit incorporating conditions approved by the board.
