Supervisors approve 2026–27 pay increases for staff, deputies and elected officials

The Clarke County Board of Supervisors on April 27 unanimously approved a series of pay increases covering county staff, deputies and elected officials for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2026. The board voted to adopt multiple individual salary adjustments, a countywide 3% uplift for elected officials and a 3% base pay increase in the sheriff’s office memorandum of understanding.
Res. 26-066, moved by Dean Robins and seconded by Brian Sorensen, approved salary adjustments for named county employees effective July 1, 2026. Examples in the approved list include a 3% raise for most full‑time staff (for instance, Jodi Carson, Sheriff Clerk; Andrea Campbell‑Smith, County Attorney Office Manager) and larger percentage increases for select part‑time positions (Manuel Cisneros Gomez, Custodian, 4.56%; Maki Barber, part‑time Passport Clerk, 6.38%; Stephanie Rhoads, Veterans Affairs Director/General Relief, 8.2%). The motion carried on a unanimous vote by Supervisors Randy Dunbar, Dean Robins and Brian Sorensen.
Res. 26-067 approved a 3% base pay wage increase under the sheriff’s memorandum of understanding for fiscal 2027; the resolution was moved by Brian Sorensen and seconded by Dean Robins and passed unanimously.
Res. 26-068 set elected officials’ salaries for FY2027 under Iowa Code Chapters 331.905 and 331.907, applying a 3% increase to the Auditor, Attorney, Recorder, Sheriff, Treasurer and Supervisors. The resolution lists approved salary amounts and notes a $1,000 stipend for the chairman.
Res. 26-069 approved FY2027 salaries for named deputy positions, including Deputy Sheriff Brian Akers and specified deputy auditors, treasurers and the deputy recorder. That motion also passed unanimously.
