Board appoints Jacobson-Westergard to survey DD 35 Lat 12; drainage clerk raises unpaid invoices from Faribault County

The Winnebago County Board of Supervisors on May 5 appointed Jacobson-Westergard to perform a survey of DD 35 Lat 12 to determine whether repairs are needed. The motion to appoint the engineering firm was made by Supervisor Jensvold and seconded by Supervisor Durby; all voted aye.
Kris Oswald, the county Drainage Clerk, told the board he had received a letter from Faribault County, Minnesota requesting payment on invoices covering 2002 through 2019 for joint drainage districts. Oswald said he would consult IDDA and other counties to learn how those entities handle older invoices and to determine what Winnebago County’s district might be responsible for.
Acting in their capacity as drainage trustees, the Supervisors said they would like a written contract between the counties before approving future intercounty repairs or cost sharing. Oswald was directed to continue outreach and report back with findings and recommendations; no vote on payment was recorded in the minutes.
