Kenosha County Board elects Supervisor Nordigian chairman after two-ballot contest; Supervisor Franco chosen as vice-chair

The Kenosha County Board of Supervisors administered oaths to newly seated supervisors and elected leadership for the 2026–2028 term at an organizational meeting April 21, 2026.
County Clerk Regi Waligora administered the Oath of Office to supervisors elected for the 2026–2028 term. Vice-Chair Gaschke passed the gavel to Supervisor Nudo on the advice of the Corporation Counsel so the board could proceed with leadership nominations.
During nominations for chairman, Supervisor Morrissey moved to nominate Supervisor Nordigian, seconded by Supervisor Meadows. Supervisor Kirby moved to nominate Supervisor Gaschke, seconded by Supervisor Knezz. The board conducted the vote by secret paper ballot. The first ballot produced a tie—Nordigian 10, Gaschke 10, with one blank ballot. A second ballot gave Nordigian 11 votes to Gaschke's 10; Supervisor Nordigian was declared elected chairman.
For vice-chair, Supervisor Nudo nominated Supervisor Morrissey, seconded by Supervisor Gray. Supervisor Robinson nominated Supervisor Franco, seconded by Supervisor Lux. The secret-ballot vote returned Morrissey 7, Franco 14; Supervisor Franco was elected vice-chair.
The board completed its organizational business and adjourned at 8:50 p.m. after a motion to adjourn by Supervisor Decker, seconded by Supervisor Robinson, which carried on a voice vote.
The meeting record lists Supervisors Brown, Cologna, Decker, Franco, Gaschke, Geertsen, Gray, Karow, Kirby, Knezz, Lux, Meadows, Morrissey, Nordigian, Nudo, Pollock, Poole, Robinson, Stocker, Tagliapietra and Tarzon as present, with Supervisors Belsky and Grady excused.
