Nick, a city staff member, said staff met with the applicant and recommended approval if the applicant submits an enhanced landscape plan and repairs damaged slats in the existing fence. The applicant’s representative said the crane is electric and quiet, offered to repaint it a less conspicuous color and provided renderings of the proposed location. "If you want to paint it green, I'll paint it green," the representative said.
Commissioners discussed whether the crane would be better located on the north side of the building; staff noted that moving the crane to the north would require combining parcels and addressing stormwater restrictions. The applicant said the proposed location was chosen to minimize visual impact and to avoid building expansion costs. After discussion, a motion to approve the doors and crane with the recommended landscape and fencing conditions carried.
