Dodge County Airport lauded as local economic asset; resident urges creation of advisory board

Tom David and Jeff Baum told the Dodge County Highway Committee on Jan. 6 that Dodge County Airport supports roughly 15–20 local businesses, accommodates business and personal aircraft as well as medical and military training flights, and provides daily youth mentoring and training.
"The airport employs up to 17 positions and has grown significantly since COVID," Tom David said, noting that large improvement projects are typically about 90% federally funded, with state and local shares of roughly 5% each.
During the public comment period, Luke Lachendro of Beaver Dam urged the committee to support the airport and recommended creation of a future airport advisory board to help grow the facility as a county asset. Lachendro also read a statement from Menard Inc. thanking Dodge County for its support of the airport.
The presenters emphasized the airport's role in regional aviation activity, including connections to EAA events in Oshkosh and proximity to a new golf course in Ashippun that could increase usage. No formal action or vote on an advisory board was taken at the meeting.
