Fed Challenge organizers set Sept. 30 registration, Oct. 8 video deadline; finals Nov. 21 in person

Robin Capetto, public communication strategy project manager in the Federal Reserve Board’s Office of Board Members and a member of the board’s economic education team, told participants that registration for the 2025 Fed Challenge closes Sept. 30 and video submissions are due Oct. 8.
Capetto said the competition will include 18 virtual Q&A sessions Nov. 3–5, from which six finalist teams will be selected for an in-person final on Friday, Nov. 21. “Travel funding will not be provided during the registration process,” she said, and schools are asked to indicate on their registration whether a team would be unable to travel if selected for the finals.
Capetto outlined team-composition rules: each competing team may have up to five competitors; there is no minimum number of students, and teams may list alternates who may not participate in Q&A or the finals. To preserve anonymity in early rounds, teams will be assigned a team ID that must appear in the YouTube video title.
She stressed a strict deadline policy: “Please know that no exceptions could be made for missed deadlines regardless of circumstances. This policy is in place to maintain a level playing field for all competitors.” Capetto also said judges will not provide written feedback to teams because judging is volunteer-based.
The orientation included brief details on submission and review logistics: judges will receive anonymized videos and review them using the official rubric; regional judges will submit their top three teams to help schedule Q&A rounds. The Board and New York Fed staff also said Boston follows a separate submission process and submits its top school to the Board for final consideration.
