The La Porte City Redevelopment Commission on Feb. 25 re-elected the commission’s incumbent officers, approved routine minutes and claims, and made appointments to outside boards.
Chair Brian Chalik proposed keeping the current slate of officers. After a motion and a second, the commission re-elected the 2026 officers by voice vote, recorded as 5-0: Brian Chalik as president, Damon Gasway as vice president and JT McDermad as secretary.
The commission then approved the Jan. 28, 2026 meeting minutes and the claims docket by voice vote, each recorded as 5-0.
On appointments, the commission moved and approved a nomination of Betsy Parkinson to the Newport Landing Development Corporation. The meeting record also reflects an appointment to the Alcoholic Beverage Review Commission as having been made “as discussed,” but the transcript does not clearly identify the individual named to that seat; the commission directed staff to reflect the appointments in the minutes for state records.
The meeting adjourned after the items were concluded. Commissioners set a special meeting for Tuesday, March 3, at 9:30 a.m.
