Staff member Mr. Phillips said the commission received two quotes: Lakeshore Landscaping for $10,282 and Mofield Property Services with a broken-down bid that, when summed, was roughly $5,000 but could rise by an estimated $1,000 if fertilization and weed control (three applications) were included. Mr. Phillips said he would seek clarification from the lower bidder and suggested approving with a capped fertilization allowance if needed.
Commissioners discussed the comparability of services and the cost difference. Rather than award the contract immediately, the commission agreed to add the item to a special meeting agenda next week to allow staff to confirm whether the lower quote includes fertilization and, if not, how much that service would add. Staff proposed a not-to-exceed cap of about $1,500 for fertilization so the commission could act promptly if appropriate.
No final contract award or dollar figure for the contract was recorded in the meeting minutes; the matter was tabled. Staff said the commission would consider the item at the special meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m.
