Roseland council adopts several ordinances, including public-safety and ambulance appropriations

Roseland — During its June 17 meeting the Roseland governing body read and advanced multiple bond ordinances and adopted several ordinances after public hearing, recording roll-call votes for each adoption.

Borough clerk Mr. Watkins read introductions for bond ordinances including a $427,000 appropriation for Courtland Street and 4th Avenue improvements, a $245,000 bond for acquisition of vehicles and equipment and a $257,000 bond for various capital improvements; public hearings for some of those introductions were scheduled for July 15, 2025.

The council opened public hearings and then adopted several ordinances by recorded roll call votes. The governing body adopted an amended police/noise ordinance (16-2025), an ordinance setting weekend hours and fees for the pavilion and picnic area at Ourn Field (17-2025), a traffic-related amendment (18-2025), a capital-improvement bond ordinance (19-2025) and an ambulance-appropriation bond ordinance (20-2025). The clerk read each title into the record; roll calls on adopted ordinances recorded council members voting in favor (votes recorded on the record as "Yes").

Council also approved resolution 227-2025 (the June 11 bill list) and a slate of resolutions numbered 228-242, with recusal noted where appropriate for one grant-submission item. A consent agenda item waived field-permit fees for a youth baseball event.

What this means: the adopted ordinances authorize the borough to proceed with budgeting and technical steps such as engineering, bidding and, where applicable, public hearings required before construction or equipment purchase. The ambulance bond ordinance will allow the borough to fund acquisition work subject to the forms and timelines in the adopted ordinance. Next steps include formal advertising of adopted ordinances as required by law and the July 15 public hearings for the newly introduced bond ordinances.
