Board members reviewed the districtwide safety plan during the June 18 meeting and were told the plan is subject to an annual review requirement. "We are required by law to review our district safety plan each year by July 1st," the Chair said, and staff noted the Safety Committee met on June 11 to complete the review.
The districtwide safety plan is public and must be posted for a 30-day public-comment period before adoption; building-level safety plans are more detailed and will be shared with the board for review but not made public, staff said. The Chair told the board there were few changes from the prior year because statutory requirements had not changed.
Board members discussed next steps for any site-specific items and thanked safety committee members who worked on the plan. The review will inform the plan the district posts for comment and the version brought back to the board for final action.
What happens next: staff will post the districtwide safety plan for the mandatory 30-day public-comment period and return any required updates to the board for adoption.
