Roosevelt City Council members agreed to postpone the school resource contract and related rec-center and gym-fee decisions until the May 6 meeting, asking city staff and Jason Young to meet first and present a recommended approach.
A council member told colleagues that while an agreement had been informally reached for operations during the school year and swim season, outstanding paperwork and differing expectations about fees remain. Council directed the city manager (Ryan) and Jason Young to meet and bring back a proposal; council did not take a final vote on the contract and the item was tabled for the May 6 meeting.
During public comment earlier in the meeting, Mr Farley urged the council to remove or limit donor banners and signs from the city's oldest park and golf course, saying such displays would degrade the park and that donated signage can be written off by donors. Council thanked Mr Farley for the comment and said his concerns would be taken under advisement.
Council also reviewed financials and approved expenditures by voice vote during the meeting. Staff provided updates on trail construction and said bridge abutments and asphalt bids for Phase Two are in progress. Council asked staff to place a Cedarview Montwell grant update on the May 6 agenda and scheduled a later discussion about garbage service options and potential public hearings to consider service and rate issues.
