Roosevelt City Council approved a request to film on Roosevelt Main Street, contingent on legal review and staff coordination on permits, road closures and safety logistics. Applicant Mark Baki, who identified himself as a local filmmaker, outlined plans for one day of filming in Roosevelt and additional days on nearby lands and said the crew would include roughly 40–80 cast and production personnel with five support trailers.
Council members emphasized the need to coordinate with the police department, public works and parks staff to manage street closures, trailer placement and catering. One council member said the city should have legal review and staff input before final sign‑off; that requirement was included in the motion the council approved. “I’m really proud of Roosevelt,” Mark Baki said, urging the council to support local production that could showcase the community.
City staff noted the Utah Film Commission remains part of the permitting path and that state or federal land designations near parts of the proposed shoot may trigger additional approvals. Council members and staff asked the applicant to provide at least several weeks’ notice for exact dates; Baki offered three months’ lead time and said call times could require early‑morning or late‑night work.
The council’s approval was framed as conditional: staff and legal must finalize permit language, coordinate traffic control with the state (where state roads are involved), and confirm insurance and indemnity terms. The council instructed staff to return final paperwork to the city manager for execution once those items are complete.
