Cinnaminson board honors three outgoing members as students report winter activities

During the Dec. 17 meeting, Superintendent Mr. Capello highlighted recent performing-arts achievements and recognized three outgoing board members for their service to the district.

Capello thanked performing-arts staff and named students recently selected for honors orchestras and choruses. "We're really proud not only of the accolades they received recently," he said, and noted upcoming performances including middle- and high-school concerts and a pre-K singalong. He also told the board that several students may perform on The Today Show as part of the Philadelphia Boys Choir.

As part of a Youth in Board Government presentation, Capello and students recognized board members Tony Topps, Dan Evans and Christine Turner for long service and volunteer work, including campaigning for a 2014 bond referendum that funded high-school renovations. Each honoree was applauded and presented with plaques. Board members and community speakers thanked donors and volunteers at Winterfest and highlighted community fundraising efforts.

Student representatives Gwen Chansy (high school) and Noah Bundy (middle school) delivered reports covering student-of-the-month honorees, sports captains and schedules, National Honor Society inductions, club fundraisers such as a pulsera sale that raised funds for Central American artisans, Toys for Tots collections and upcoming concerts and spirit events.

What happens next: The board will host its annual reorganization meeting on Jan. 7, 2025; the administration said it will present a May report on a year-long service-learning initiative tied to extracurricular teams.
