Hackensack Council Swears In Three Fire Officers; Clinton Place, Italian-American Heritage Recognized

The Hackensack City Council opened its meeting by swearing in three members of the city’s fire department and by issuing two community proclamations.
Michael Thomasy took the oath to become deputy fire chief, followed by Jeffrey G. Russo as fire captain and Jesse Diamore III as fire lieutenant. “Let’s hear it for these guys in this well-deserved promotion,” Chief Rosaza said, thanking the mayor and council and telling the assembled family members and residents that the promotions help maintain span of control and public safety for the department.
Mayor Cassin Gaines read a proclamation recognizing Clinton Place for more than 30 years of Halloween displays that draw visitors across Bergen County; the proclamation notes the block’s fundraising for local fire and police departments and highlighted a flash-mob performance organized by Lorie Manning of Nelly K. Parker School. Later in the meeting, Gaines read a separate proclamation celebrating Italian-American Heritage Month and honoring contributions of Italian-American residents to the community.
The council recessed briefly for photos after the swearing-in and then resumed regular business.
