Councilmembers approved the Rochester‑Avon Recreation Authority’s proposed fiscal year 2025 budget after a brief presentation and public‑hearing notice by RAR staff.
RARA presenter Mr Word described program growth, new amenities and participation increases, saying the authority’s primary mission is "to strengthen community through play." He credited new programming and contractors for participation gains — camps and events were singled out as major growth areas. Mr Word also noted RAR’s fund balance strategy and use of sponsors and part‑time staff to keep programs affordable.
Councilmember Moli moved the resolution to approve the RAR fiscal year 2025 proposed budget; Miss Newow seconded the motion. President Deal called for the vote and the motion passed unanimously.
What the vote did: the resolution acknowledges receipt of RAR’s proposed FY2025 budget and approves the authority’s submitted 2025 budget and the 2026–2027 projections as presented in the council packet. There was no recorded opposition.
Next steps: RAR will proceed under the approved FY2025 budget as adopted by the Rochester Hills City Council. The administration noted that department budget presentations would follow for the city’s own 2025 proposed plan.
