The Lamar City Council approved a motion to establish May 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. as the date and time for a public hearing on voluntary annexation of certain lands south of the current city limits to accommodate an industrial park addition. Staff noted ISG is designing the plans and that the city owns the land proposed for development, although not all of it is currently annexed.
A consultation meeting with the Plymouth County Supervisors was scheduled for April 20, 2026; staff described notice requirements including affected public utilities, the board of supervisors, the county attorney, solid waste providers and adjoining property owners. Council members discussed avoiding creation of an island parcel and agreed to annex incrementally as development requires.
The motion to set the public hearing was seconded and carried; the matter will return to council for the scheduled hearing and associated notice process.
