The Kalamazoo City Planning Commission elected Mitchell Curtis as chair at the start of its April 8 meeting, and approved Roland as vice chair and Michelle as secretary.
City planner Bobby reviewed the duties of the three officer roles — chair, vice chair and secretary — noting the chair presides over meetings and signs documents, the vice chair performs the chair’s duties in their absence, and the secretary maintains the commission’s final minutes. After nominations, commissioners voted by voice to install the three officers.
Commissioners discussed whether to elect officers individually or as a slate and chose individual votes. There were no objections recorded during the voice votes that confirmed Curtis as chair and the other two officers. Chair Curtis then presided over the remainder of the meeting.
The election followed roll call and approval of minutes from the commission’s prior meeting.
