Cascade County Commissioners authorized Public Works to submit an application to the Montana Department of Transportation SFY26 Air Congestion Initiative (MACI) and, if awarded, to procure a street sweeper consistent with the funding opportunity's requirements.
Les Payne, Public Works Director, presented the background for Contract 26-39 and the MACI funding opportunity. Commissioner Joe Briggs moved to approve participation in the program and to permit procurement if an award is made; the motion carried 2-0.
Why it matters: A street sweeper funded through MACI can reduce particulate pollution and support local road maintenance. The authorization enables the county to pursue grant funding and prepare procurement actions contingent on an award.
