The Monterey County Planning Commission approved routine business and received a department update on the county’s housing element during a short Wednesday meeting.
After confirming a quorum, the commission approved the consent calendar (moved by Commissioner Gonzalez and seconded by Commissioner Gomez) and later approved the minutes (moved by Commissioner Gomez and seconded by Commissioner Work). No members of the public provided comments during either vote.
In a department report, Secretary Ms. Bredigkeit told commissioners the next two meetings have full agendas because several long-range planning items and policies are advancing. She said staff submitted a third submittal of the county’s housing element to the State Department of Housing and Community Development; that submission triggered another 60-day review. Ms. Bredigkeit said staff is hopeful there will be no further substantive issues and that concurrent rezoning and a draft programmatic environmental impact report will follow.
Commissioners were asked to notify the clerk if they have scheduling constraints for upcoming long meetings. The commission adjourned after roughly 25 minutes.
