Wayne board recognizes multiple retirees and outlines superintendent search timeline

The board read retirement recognitions for transportation worker Laura Barry (14 years), facilities employee John Reneer (20-plus years), paraprofessionals including Sharon, special-education teacher Kenneth Ferrer (joined 2002), LPN paraprofessional Wendy Fuso and English-as-a-Second-Language teacher Caroline Olive (20 years). The board also recognized data systems analyst Gway Shu (nearly 16 years) and William "Bill" Moffett, the district’s business administrator and board secretary, who announced his retirement after serving in that role since Nov. 26, 2018.
Board members offered personal remarks about the retirees’ service; one member credited Moffett with thorough financial stewardship, noting the business office’s strong audit record and citing projects overseen during his tenure, including full-day kindergarten implementation and facility renovations.
On the superintendent search, a board member said the board met with a search consultant and will deploy a community and staff survey, hold Zoom and in-person public meetings, and solicit student input through scheduled classroom time. The board aims to name a successor by the beginning of April; the speaker said the timeline accounts for separation agreements and other personnel steps.
The meeting closed after member comments and a motion to adjourn.
