Calexico Unified board approves district agreements, new courses and multiple resolutions in regular meeting

Among the items the board approved were: an agreement with SchoolWorks Incorporated to conduct a district-wide demographic study; a contract with Kathy Gomez to provide early-childhood (transitional kinder and kinder) professional development; renewal of the Curriculum Associates i‑Ready diagnostic platform for 2025–2026 (presented by Assistant Superintendent Alisa Ramirez); and approval of a renewal agreement with After School Unlimited to provide professional development and student-wellness services for the expanded-learning program.
On facilities and procurement, the board approved bid awards for ADA site improvements and site improvements related to a modular Family Resource Center building, a notice of completion for district-wide shade structures, and acceptance of several surplus-asset disposition resolutions for classroom and office furniture and HVAC equipment at multiple campuses.
The board also approved new course offerings at Calexico High School, including choreography/modern dance, yearbook and publications, U.S. history and ethnic studies, Latin American literature, agricultural chemistry, Cyber Security and Computer Science Essentials. Preliminary Single Plans for Student Achievement (SPSA) were approved for William Moreno Junior High School and Aurora High School, and variable-terms waivers were granted for speech-language pathologists for the 2025–2026 year.
Multiple resolutions authorizing assignment insurance under various education code sections were approved, as were several surplus-asset dispositions for Rockwood Elementary, the Family Resource Center, Klexico High School 9th grade campus, Aota High School and L Charles Elementary. Most motions were moved, seconded and passed by recorded voice votes of 4–0 on the public record.
The board closed the public meeting portion by announcing it would convene into closed session.
