Leawood approves revised plan for Cornerstone Dick's Steakhouse at former Winstead site

The Leawood governing body unanimously adopted a resolution March 2 approving a revised final plan to repurpose the former Winstead/Ricard Dumpling House building for Cornerstone Dick's Steakhouse and Oyster Bar.
Planning staff (Julie Hurley) described the project as a renovation and repurpose: a 350‑square‑foot exterior addition to provide walk‑in cooler space, creation of an outdoor patio in the former drive‑thru lane, resurfacing and parking improvements, and upgraded landscaping surrounding the property. Hurley said much of the existing drive‑thru pavement will be converted into usable patio and greenspace and that the project will include an updated entrance awning.
Applicant Kevin Timmons, who is part of the ownership group behind the nearby Nick & Jake's restaurant, said the concept is a dinner‑only steak and oyster house that draws on reclaimed wood and a traditional bar aesthetic. Timmons said the menu is largely complete, that the team is working on permitting and demo permits and that an opening date will depend on construction and permit timelines.
Council member Dr. Caster moved to approve the revised final plan; the motion was seconded by Mary Larson and passed unanimously.
