Board of Adjustments tables 509 Riker Court variance after applicant no-show; approves May minutes

The Mass County Board of Adjustments met July 24, 2025, approved the May meeting minutes and unanimously voted to table a dimensional variance application for 509 Riker Court after the applicant did not appear.

Board members present — Kim Olds, Keith Barton, Keith Weaver, Ryan Robinson and Ralph Oliver — answered roll call before the board took up the minutes. A member moved to approve the May minutes; the motion was seconded and passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.

When the board called the agenda item for a dimensional variance at 509 Riker Court, no one was present to represent Distinctive Design Remodeling or the application. A staff member told the board, “We did — we did email them this morning and give them a reminder about the location and the time of the meeting,” indicating staff had attempted outreach that day.

Given the absence of the applicant’s representative, a board member moved to table the application until the applicant can appear; the motion was seconded and passed by a unanimous roll-call vote of the five members present.

During new business the chair recognized Ryan Robinson and said, in part, “for those of you who don't know, this is Ryan's last meeting. He's taking an opportunity with his company to move out of state … we appreciate your involvement and we hate to see you go.” Robinson did not make an extended remark on the record beyond the recognition.

With no further business, a member moved to adjourn, the motion was seconded and the board adjourned following a unanimous roll-call vote.
