Council waives notice period so hospital may switch security providers July 1

Roosevelt City Council approved a request to waive the termination notice period in the city’s hospital security contract, allowing the hospital to end the city-provided security service and start with a private provider effective July 1.
Lieutenant Tucker explained the contract had been in place since about 2017 with the Roosevelt Police Department providing overnight security shifts, and that the hospital had sent a notice terminating the contract because it plans to use a local contract security company. The hospital asked the city to waive the contract notice period (60 or 90 days referenced in the presentation) so the new company can begin July 1. Council members discussed the operational impact and expressed support for the transition; the motion to waive the notice period passed unanimously.
Lieutenant Tucker noted the change had been difficult for staffing but that the police department and hospital had reached an agreeable transition plan. The council’s vote authorizes the city to accept the hospital’s requested termination date and to coordinate steps needed for the transition.
