Staff told council they expect Gateway and neighboring municipalities not to conflict on timing; bids are planned to open in mid‑April with a recommendation to council thereafter.
Council members asked whether the vehicle‑age requirement was reasonable and whether it would deter bidders. The manager said two local haulers told staff they could meet the requirement and that a competitive process should produce better pricing than the previous COG arrangement, which had limited competition.
Council voted by roll call to authorize advertisement of bids for the garbage and recycling contract. Staff will publish the bid documents and report back with results and a recommendation.
