Superintendent highlights National School Counseling Week, student signings and new Saturday Academy

The superintendent of the Wayne Township Public School District opened the public meeting by recognizing National School Counseling Week and thanking school counselors for supporting students’ academic, career and social-emotional development.
“Your compassion and care is essential to the success of our students and the wellbeing of our school community,” the superintendent said, offering the board’s gratitude to counselors across the district.
The superintendent also noted that National Signing Day for the 2025–26 academic year produced multiple college commitments: nine student-athletes from Wayne Hills and 14 from Wayne Valley committed to compete at the collegiate level. The board extended congratulations to all students who signed.
Separately, the district will pilot a Saturday Academy in collaboration with the Wayne Education Foundation for seventh- and eighth-grade students. The four-week program, to be held at Wayne Valley beginning March 1, will let students register for two sessions drawn from offerings that include automotive, coding, fashion, graphic design, music, photography, robotics and science; class size for each session is limited to 20 students and registration is available through WayneEducationFoundation.org.
The superintendent framed the programs as opportunities to broaden student exposure to high-school pathways and to celebrate staff who support student development. The opening report concluded with district administrative updates and items scheduled for later agenda consideration.
