The Milpitas Planning Commission on April 8, 2026, voted to continue a city‑initiated zoning map and text amendment implementing Senate Bill 79 (a proposed transit‑oriented development overlay district) to the commission's April 22 meeting to allow additional public notice and materials.
Planning staff described the item as a city‑initiated zoning amendment that would create areas eligible for SB 79 height and density standards and said the project would be exempt from CEQA. Staff requested the continuance to provide additional notice to the public. The commission moved, seconded and approved the continuance by roll call.
Next steps: staff will publish additional notice and return the item to the Planning Commission on April 22, 2026.
