Oak Park’s City Council on Monday approved several capital and operating expenditures tied to ongoing projects and services, including reconstruction work at the 11 Mile alley and parking lot, replacement of a dispatch-console, Event Hub professional fees, and a five-year copier lease.
Director Kimberly Moroni asked council to approve Pay Application No. 2 and Change Order No. 1 for the 11 Mile alley and parking-lot reconstruction project; she presented a total pay request in the range of $296,539.81 and an additional change-order amount presented as approximately $25,830. Council discussed phasing and schedule (the west lot’s asphalt was finishing and striping was scheduled before the east lot work) and approved the payment by roll call.
Director Steve Cooper requested authorization to purchase a replacement dispatch console from a contract available through the Omnia cooperative for $79,773.63. Staff identified $60,000 available in a drug forfeiture fund and requested rolling over $20,000 from the FY2024–25 public-safety capital outlay fund to cover the balance. Records Division Manager Stephanie Christ said the new console carries an expected useful life of at least 10 years and includes a maintenance package; council authorized the purchase, with a 10–12 week lead time.
Deputy City Manager Dave Doer presented Invoice No. 19 and Change Order No. 2 from Newman Smith Architecture for the Event Hub ($16,841.13 and $10,500 respectively) and said construction is about 25% complete, with the building expected to be enclosed by winter. Council approved the payment.
Deputy City Manager Adam Mosarzac presented a recommended five‑year lease renewal with Xerox for copier and document-management services after obtaining three quotes (Xerox, Ricoh, Toshiba). He said the deal will add workplace-cloud reporting to track printing usage and would save the city roughly $2,718 annually compared with current costs; council approved the lease subject to final city-attorney review.
Council members praised departmental stewardship of projects and the public-safety recruiting and training that support operations. Staff also previewed the upcoming drone demonstration that officials plan to present at a future meeting.
