Board approves county participation in regional jail medical feasibility study

The Board of Supervisors approved a memorandum of understanding with the Golden State Finance Authority (a subsidiary of RCRC) to participate in a regional feasibility study examining medical care for county jails.
Assistant County Administrator Sean Powers described the study’s scope — needs assessment, service-delivery models, comparative cost analysis, implementation roadmap and reporting — and said Yuba County’s share of the approximately $380,000 project is about $33,500. Powers said the county will fund participation through behavioral health appropriations. "Our portion of this MOU would only be 33,500 and change out of about, basically, $380,000 project," he said.
Board members expressed support for the regional approach and noted the results could inform the county's current contract and future renewals for jail medical services. The motion to approve carried by voice vote.
