Hilligus told the board the state had allocated roughly $350,000 to reimburse the county for election costs and that the county was transferring about $354,000 to cover increased election services and preparatory work connected to the June primary and a possible August general election if no candidate receives 50% plus one. "The state allocated us 350,000, so we are transferring 354," Hilligus said.
Supervisors confirmed the expedited timeline (nine days for a certification that normally takes about 30 days) and noted the potential for a second election in August if no candidate wins a majority. The board took public comment (none on the item), then approved the transfer by roll call vote; the motion was moved and seconded and passed unanimously.
